Anwar Abbas is currently serving as the Chairman of the Sharia Supervisory Board at PT Asuransi Takaful Umum.
Previously, he held the position of Chairman of the Shariah Supervisory Board at PT Intan Baru Prana Tbk and PT Asuransi Jiwa Syariah Jasa Mitra Abadi Tbk.
He also served as the Director of Religion & Human Resources at Pondok Kopi Islamic Hospital from 1998 to 2004.
Additionally, he was the Head of the Community Economic Empowerment Division at Majelis Ulama Indonesia from 2010 to 2015.
Dr. Abbas has also held positions such as Deputy Chancellor IV at Prof.
Dr. Hamka University of Muhammadiyah from 1991 to 1995, Deputy General Secretary at the International Islamic Confederation of Labour from 2004 to 2009, Treasurer & Head of Economic & Entrepreneurship at Pimpinan Pusat Muhammadiyah from 2006 to 2010, and Member of the Indonesia People's Consultative Assembly from 1997 to 1999.
He obtained his undergraduate degree from Universitas Islam Negeri Jakarta in 1982, his doctorate degree from Universitas Islam Negeri Jakarta in 2008, and graduate degrees from Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta in 1997 and 1999.
