RACEC Group Limited provides rail engineering solutions in Africa. It operates in two segments: Administrative and investment services, and Rail construction. Administrative and investment services include financial services, investment and cash management and human resource services. Rail construction services are provided by RACEC Rail (Pty) Ltd, RACEC Africa Ltda, RACEC Rail Sierra Leone (Pty) Ltd and include the construction, maintenance and upgrading of rail track work, gantries, stacker reclaimers, ship loader track work, specialized trolley tracks, crane tracks, thermite welding, railway sliding design and railways material sales and track-related civil works, such as stormwater works. During the fiscal year ended September 30, 2011 (fiscal 2011), the remaining roto-moulding division was sold. The rail electric overhead track equipment (OHTE) moved to RACEC Rail and the balance of the downsized non-core business was sold to a management buy-out, in August 2011.
