Mr. Pelton joined Crocus Investment Fund in April 2004 as Senior Vice President, Investments, and was appointed Chief Investment Officer in September 2004.
Mr. Pelton graduated with a B. Comm from University of Toronto and subsequently obtained a chartered accountant designation.
After two years with a Toronto-based investment dealer, Mr. Pelton moved to Winnipeg as Chief Financial Officer of Federal Industries Ltd. Over the next thirteen years, Federal Industries grew from its western Canadian roots to become a diversified multi-national company.
Mr. Pelton left Federal in 1987, returning to Toronto as Senior Vice President and Head, Mergers and Acquisitions, of Merrill Lynch Canada.
In 1988, he became President and Chief Operating Officer of Financial Trustco Capital, a financial services entity.
In 1989, Mr. Pelton co-founded Greystone Partners Ltd., a private merchant bank and restructuring advisory business.
Greystone specialized in bringing capital and transition management capabilities to companies facing challenging operational or financial situations.
Federal Industries engaged Greystone in 1990 to provide such services, and in 1991, Mr. Pelton joined Federal to lead implementation of the turn-around as President, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.
Over the next six years, the company became a leading metals distributor in North America.
Since 1997, Mr. Pelton has concentrated on private capital markets, making investments through Greystone Partners in financial services, manufacturing and direct marketing.
