Profile

Prior to co-founding Trellis Partners in 1997, Mr. Long served as a partner of Dakota Venture Management Company.
Previously, he was an integral member of Southwest Venture Partners, one of the oldest venture capital firms in Texas.
He joined the company as an associate and was named a General Partner in 1986.
His primary investment focus was early-stage information technology projects, which broadened following a reorganization of the firm to include primary responsibility for some of Southwest's most successful investments, including Chipcom, Dell Computer, Surgical Laser Technologies, Pilot Software, and Garden Ridge.
His experience also includes a tenure as research associate at the Institute for Constructive Capitalism at the University of Texas at Austin.
He currently serves as a Director of Wayport, BetweenMarkets and Zilliant.
Mr. Long earned a BS in Electrical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and an MBA from The University of Texas at Austin.
