Mr. Gilliland is a principal analyst in Gartner Research, where he is a part of the Hardware and Systems unit in Asia/Pacific.
Mr. Gilliland is specifically responsible for the following four areas of research: 1) publishing research and advising clients on all aspects of channels and fulfillment within the Hardware and Systems portfolio, 2) Total Cost of Ownership specifically in relation to hardware and more recently Linux on the desktop, 3) Thin Clients and Server-Based Computing, and 4) Reporting on the hardware trends and directions in Malaysia, the Philippines and Vietnam.
Prior to joining Gartner in October 2001, Mr. Gilliland worked for IBM for eight years in numerous roles.
His most recent position with IBM was as the global account sales operations manager, covering all of Asia/Pacific.
Previous positions include ANZ supply/demand manager and business partner relationship manager for Sales.
Mr. Gilliland has a bachelor's degree in business with a major in marketing.
He has also done post-graduate study in direct marketing and market research.
