Sildarvinnslan hf. is a fisheries operator, as well as a catcher and processor of pelagic species and a large producer of fishmeal and oil. The Company operates from 13 locations around Iceland, as well as in the United States and Greenland. The Company's catch quota, along with that of its partners, totals 25,000 cod-equivalent tons per year. Sildarvinnslan operates an ultra-modern production plant for processing whitefish, pelagic species and salted herring. It also operates five fishmeal and oil factories, and operates a fleet composed of three vessels designed for fishing pelagic species, a freezing trawler and an ice trawler. Fish farming is an ever-increasing feature of the Company's operations, including salmon and catfish breeding and the operation of a salmon processing plant. Sildarvinnslan provides a full range of specialized port facilities from its headquarters in Neskaupstadur, including catch landing services, a freezing and chilling store and an ice factory.
