Francesco Milleri, chairman of Delfin, told Italian daily Corriere della Sera that Monte dei Paschi di Siena's (Mps) offer for Mediobanca is "very interesting, and we will continue to evaluate it. A possible adjustment reflecting the stock market's performance would make the offer more appealing for investors."
Delfin currently holds a 19.8% stake in Mediobanca and 9.866% in Mps.
Asked whether Delfin intends to increase its stake in Generali, Milleri responded, "No, however, we have consolidated our position by completing the authorization process in the two remaining EU jurisdictions, which allows us to stay above the 10% threshold in the company--a level we exceeded following buyback operations. I don't think there are many non-banking or non-financial companies that have achieved a similar result."
Regarding Delfin's stake in Unicredit, Milleri concluded, "We will continue to monitor the values and weigh capital gains and opportunities, as any good manager would."
