Producers of metals and other raw materials were more or less flat as precious metals closed near record highs.
Gold futures rose 2.1% to $4300.10 an ounce for the week, closing at their second highest level ever.
Silver futures rose 5% to $61.36 an ounce, giving back 4% from its record high on Thursday.
