(Alliance News) - Leonardo Spa announced on Wednesday that, through its subsidiary Leonardo UK, it has signed a binding agreement to acquire the British cybersecurity firm Becrypt.

The transaction aims to consolidate the company's positioning in the UK through collaboration with the Government and the National Cyber Security Centre, in order to protect the United Kingdom's most sensitive environments.

The deal with Becrypt is the latest in a series of partnerships following those signed with Axiomatics, SSH Communication, and Arbit.

The closing of the transaction is subject to regulatory approvals and is expected within the second quarter of the year.

Leonardo's shares are down 2.8% at EUR60.72 per share.
