Air Liquide said it would invest nearly 200 million euros ($232.6 million) in a facility in South Korea to supply materials to SK Hynix's production of artificial intelligence storage chips.
The French industrial-gases company said Wednesday it signed a long-term contract with the semiconductor company to supply gases for their new packaging and testing facility in Cheongju.
Air Liquide said it would build and operate a nitrogen production unit in Cheongju to begin operations in late 2027.
It follows the French company's acquisition of South Korean industrial gas provider DIG Airgas, demonstrating immediate value creation from the purchase, Air Liquide said.
